Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about Emotion Hub.

What is Emotion Hub?

Emotion Hub is a mood tracker and feelings journal for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. You log a feeling on a feelings wheel, add what happened, what you thought and did, where you were and how your body reacted, and then read your patterns back in Analytics. Your journal lives on your devices and in your own iCloud — we have no server that receives it.

What emotions can I track?

Emotion Hub is built around 7 primary emotions: Happy, Angry, Sad, Fearful, Disgusted, Surprised, and Bad. Each primary emotion breaks down into nuanced secondary and tertiary states — so instead of just "sad", you might log "grief", "loneliness", or "despair". This depth helps you name exactly how you feel.

Is my journal private?

Yes. Emotion Hub stores your journal on your device and syncs it through your personal iCloud. We have no servers and never see your entries. You can also lock the app with Face ID or a passcode. The privacy policy lists the one third-party service the app uses, for subscriptions, and exactly what it receives.

How does Emotion Hub work with Apple Health?

Both ways, and only with your permission. Each entry is saved to Apple Health as a State of Mind, and moods you log in the Health app or on Apple Watch come into your journal. Emotion Hub also reads your sleep, steps and workouts so you can see your mood beside them. Moods brought in from Health stay on the device that imported them and are never copied to iCloud. Apple Health is not available on the Mac.

What does Plus include?

Logging is free and unlimited for everyone, on every device, and Analytics covers your last 7 days for free. Plus adds Analytics for 30 days, the last 12 months and all time; your year in dots and what tends to go with your moods; highlights on sleep, body reactions and which feeling follows which; a short period summary written on your device by Apple Intelligence (on supported devices and languages); the PDF report; Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets; and logging from Apple Watch. Plus is a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App Store in your currency.

Is there a free trial?

When a free trial is offered on a Plus subscription and your Apple Account is eligible for it, the subscription screen says so before you buy; if it does not mention one, there is none for you. The lifetime purchase has no trial. Trial availability and length are set through the App Store.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. You can cancel at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or in the App Store on your Mac. The lifetime purchase is not a subscription: it is paid once and never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Plus includes a PDF report of any date range, useful for personal reflection or for sharing with a therapist.

Which languages does Emotion Hub speak?

Twenty: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Estonian, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Emotion Hub follows your iPhone, iPad or Mac language automatically, and you can pick another one in Settings.

What iOS version is required?

Emotion Hub requires iOS or iPadOS 18.6 or later. The Apple Watch app needs watchOS 11 or later, and the App Store shows the macOS version the Mac app needs. The period summary needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence.

Is Emotion Hub a replacement for therapy?

No. Emotion Hub is a personal journaling and self-awareness tool. It is not a medical device and is not intended as a substitute for professional mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional.
