Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

We never receive your journal. Your entries, notes and emotion records stay on your own devices and in your private iCloud account, synced by Apple's CloudKit — we have no servers to send them to. The only data that leaves your device for anyone other than Apple is what a subscription check needs: an anonymous app user ID, a device identifier and your App Store purchase records, sent to RevenueCat so the app knows whether you have Plus. None of it is linked to your identity or used for tracking.

Overview

Emotion Hub is a mood tracking and journaling app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. It runs on your devices and keeps your journal in your own iCloud. We believe your emotional journal is deeply personal, and we built this app with that principle at its core.

Data We Collect

We do not collect your journal, your health data, or any information that identifies you. Specifically:

  • No name, email address, account or contact details — the app has no sign-in
  • No usage analytics, no tracking, and no advertising identifier (IDFA)
  • No crash reports sent to us
  • No third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs

The one exception is checking your Plus status, described under Subscriptions and Third-Party Services below. On the App Store this is declared in the app's privacy label as Purchases (Purchase History) and Identifiers (User ID), both "Data Not Linked to You", used for app functionality only and never for tracking.

Journal & Emotion Data

All emotion entries, journal notes and behavioral data you record in Emotion Hub are stored on your device using SwiftData. They sync across your own Apple devices — including Apple Watch — through your private iCloud account. They are never sent to our servers, because we don't have any.

To show your widgets and watch-face complications, the app keeps a small summary — the feelings and intensity of today and this week, and your streak, with no notes or text you wrote — in a container shared with its widgets on the same device.

Apple Health

With your permission, Emotion Hub works with Apple Health in both directions:

  • Writing: each entry you make is saved to Apple Health as a State of Mind sample.
  • Reading State of Mind: moods you log in the Health app or on Apple Watch are brought into your journal. These imported moods are stored only on the device that imported them, in a separate store that is never synced to iCloud — so they do not appear on your other devices.
  • Reading activity and sleep: sleep, steps and workouts are read to show your mood beside them. They are not stored by Emotion Hub.

Health data is read and written on your device and stays in Apple Health; Emotion Hub never sends it anywhere else, never puts it in iCloud, and never uses it for advertising. You can change or withdraw access at any time in the Health app under your profile › Apps › Emotion Hub. Apple Health is not available on the Mac.

Apple Intelligence

Plus can write a short summary of a period using Apple Intelligence, on devices and in languages that support it. The summary is written entirely on your device by Apple's on-device language model. It is given only your period's figures — such as counts, averages and which feelings came most often — never your notes or what you wrote in an entry, and nothing is sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else to produce it.

Subscriptions

Emotion Hub Plus is sold as auto-renewable subscriptions and as a one-time lifetime purchase, managed entirely through Apple's App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple, and we never have access to your payment information. Whether you have Plus is checked by RevenueCat from your App Store purchase records, as described under Third-Party Services below. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel them in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. The lifetime purchase does not renew.

Third-Party Services

Emotion Hub uses one third-party service: RevenueCat, which verifies your purchases with the App Store on our behalf. It receives:

  • an anonymous app user ID that RevenueCat generates at random for this app — it is not your name, email or Apple Account;
  • your App Store transactions for Emotion Hub (what was bought, when, and its status);
  • Apple's identifier for vendor (IDFV) — an ID Apple gives the apps of one developer on one device; it is not the advertising identifier and cannot be used to follow you across other developers' apps;
  • technical details sent with each request: device model, operating system and app version, preferred languages and App Store country, and, as with any internet connection, your IP address.

It never receives your journal entries, emotion records, notes, Health data, name, email address or contacts. RevenueCat's own privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apart from RevenueCat, the app's only external communication is with Apple: StoreKit for purchases and CloudKit for your personal iCloud sync. There are no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.

Data Storage

Your journal is stored in SwiftData on your devices and synced through your personal iCloud container. Moods imported from Apple Health stay on the device that imported them. No journal or health data is stored on any server operated by us.

Children's Privacy

Emotion Hub does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
